The myth is completely true - size really does matter!

Estimote has shrunk its Bluetooth beacon down to something you can wear - making the iBeacons technology much more attractive and deployable. They have introduced the concept of a "nearable" where you would attached the device and the object could broadcast its location, motion and temperature.

They cover a couple of interesting use-cases in their blog post, well worth a read.

• Estimote is introducing the term nearable as an intelligent object linked by a smart beacon with a rich SDK to the cloud. Estimote Stickers will be pre-programmed with nearable-specific context and an upcoming new version of our SDK with a higher level of abstraction.

They also provide an SDK to make developers who want to utilize the iBeacon technology simpler - such as providing a tool that lets them classify objects to implicitly declare the physical world rather than listening to UUID's and using RSSI values to calculate distance.
